Ellen DeGeneres is returning to Netflix for her final stand-up special, six years after her last comedy hour, “Relatable.”

The special, which marks her second for Netflix, will arrive later in 2024. It will be produced by Ben Winston and Fulwell73.

In addition to the special, DeGeneres will also kick off a multi-city stand-up tour on June 19 in San Diego.

“To answer the questions everyone is asking me – Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life,” DeGeneres said in a statement.

The comedian and talk show legend is most likely referring to her controversial exit from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2022, after allegations of a toxic workplace, which included accusations of harassment from executive producers. In light of a BuzzFeed News report and internal investigation from WarnerMedia, DeGeneres took responsibility for the workplace culture and apologized to her staff. Three executives from the show were fired.

For 19 seasons, DeGeneres hosted the talk series, which won 63 Daytime Emmys in total. Before “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” she broke out as the star of “Ellen,” an ABC sitcom in which DeGeneres’ character came out as gay shortly after DeGeneres did the same in real life. It was a groundbreaking television moment in 1997 that sparked widespread controversy and prompted the network to slap a parental advisory at the start of each episode.

DeGeneres is also known for her prolific stand-up comedy career; hosting the Oscars, Emmys and Grammys; and creating and hosting “Ellen’s Game of Games.”

“There is nobody quite like Ellen. She is a true legend and pioneer in so many ways. We can’t wait to bring fans another one of her hilarious comedy specials later this year,” said Robbie Praw, VP of stand-up and comedy formats at Netflix.
