“The Book of Mormon” is the latest long-running show to announce its return to Broadway.
In another sign that the lights are flickering back on along the Great White Way, “The Book of Mormon” will return to the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Friday, November 5, 2021. Tickets will go on sale on June 28.
The show, is the brainchild of “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and “Frozen” musical genius Robert Lopez, and has been a staple of Broadway since it swept the Tony Awards in 2011 with its outrageous sendup of musical styles and tropes, as well as organized religion.
“When Broadway shut down, so many amazing and talented people were put out of work, many of whom had become family to us,” Parker, Stone and Lopez said. “As writers and as fans we are so ready for the “Great Broadway Comeback” and are so glad that our show can be a part of it. Can’t wait to be back with the entire team and our wonderful cast, crew, and orchestra.”

“The Book of Mormon” will also resume performances on November 15, 2021 at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London’s West End and on tour in the UK starting on October 12, 2021 at the Donald Gordon Theatre in Cardiff, Wales. “The Book of Mormon” joins a list of returning productions that includes “The Lion King,” “Hamilton,” and “Wicked,” all hoping to bring audiences back to live theater after months of lockdowns.

Casting for Broadway, West End and the UK tour will be announced in coming weeks.
“The Book of Mormon” features book, music and lyrics by Parker, Lopez, and Stone. The production is choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and is directed by Nicholaw and Parker.
“The Book of Mormon” is produced by Anne Garefino, Roger Berlind, Scott M. Delman, Jean Doumanian, Roy Furman, Important Musicals LLC, Stephanie P. McClelland, Kevin Morris, Jon B. Platt, Sonia Friedman Productions and Stuart Thompson. One name that is noticeably missing from that line of producers is that of Scott Rudin, who has disassociated himself from several Broadway shows including “To Kill a Mockingbird” and the upcoming revival of “The Music Man” in the wake of allegations that he abused and bullied staff.
